Post-Processing / Double

Actions

  1. double/* [f] : Double image size, * is sharpening setting.

The double actions double the image size and try to restore some detail. The FFDD double/* actions provide 4 levels of detail enhancement designed for batch processing. The double actions flatten the image, so be careful to have saved the image if necessary before running a double action.

Here is an example of double in action. The base image is a 100% crop of an image that was sharpened using sharp/200. The d/200 at 75% is the result of using double/200 to double the base image then reducing this by 75% using the bilinear method (for an effective 1.5x enlargement). The at 75% + sharp/200 is the result of sharpening this 1.5x enlargement. Note how the edges look sharper than those in the original sharpened base image. The d/200 image shows a 100% crop of the results of running double/200 on the base image (gives a 2x enlargement). The +d/100 at 75% is the result of taking the double/200 image and doubling it again with double/100 then reducing 75% with the bilinear method (gives a 3x enlargement of the base image). The +d/100 image shows a 4x enlargement from running double/200 + double/100 on the base image.

Here is another example following the same format.

Here is an example of recursive enlargement starting with a 100% crop of an image processed with sharp/400, and then repeating double/100.
