Actions
- grain/color [m] : Add colored film grain to an image.
- grain/mono [m] : Add monochromatic film grain to an image.
The grain actions can be used to re-introduce clean film like grain into a photo. The grain/color [m] action adds colored high-frequency grain which looks somewhat like luster or pearl paper texture, while grain/mono [m] adds monochromatic grain. These can be used to hide unwanted digital noise. The action will use a merged copy of the image, so make sure to run the action with the top most layer selected. The action will provide a Levels Dialog for adjustment of the effect. The Input Midpoint (defaults to 0.1, highlighted in blue) controls the amount of grain in the midtones. A setting of 0.1 removes the grain from the midtones and highlights, while increasing this number will add more grain in the midtones. The Output Levels can also be used to further tweak the setting.
