Post-Processing / Sharp

Actions

  1. sharp/custom [m] : Sharpen with custom level.
  2. sharp/* [m] : Sharpen with * setting.

The sharp/* actions provide 4 levels of sharping (200=lowest, to 500=highest) designed for batch processing. The sharp/custom action can be used for even more control over the amount of sharpening. The sharp actions work with a merged copy of the image, so be sure to run after selecting the top layer of the image.

See below for the difference between the unsharpened, sharpened with FFDD sharp/500, and sharpened using Photoshop's built in Unsharp Mask. At this high level of sharpening, Unsharp Mask leaves massive black halos around high contrast edges, while sharp/500 is clean and clear of those black outline artifacts.

The FFDD sharp actions are designed for FFDD processed images which should already be free from noise, so the sharp actions do not try to reduce sharpening of noise. If an image has noise then use the denoise action first, and then sharpen after.
