The Chainsmokers On Female Expression and Empowerment

The Chainsmokers are known for collaborating with some of the most prolific female singers in the industry. They’ve also been known for making countless top ranking songs on the Billboard charts, reaching number 1 numerous times. They’ve even been listed on The Forbes 100 Top Paid DJ’s List of 2018, and it seems there is not end in sight for the duo. So what motivates them to include so many female vocalists when Drew Taggart isn’t singing on them himself? For The Chainsmokers, it is all about the quality of the end result and fulfilling their creative motivations throughout the process.

Tracks like “Roses” feature catchy synth leads, even though they are not overly complex. The idea is to complement this sound by adding the most harmonious sound they can, which for them is usually the female voice. The one great thing about this EDM team is that they are not about the gimmicks. What you hear is what they truly feel when they are in the studio. If you’ve seen any of their studio videos, you can attest to their dedication and determination to keep things in check.

Unfortunately, many remix artists in the EDM industry tend to utilize female vocalists in hopes that it will catch the ears of the female listeners and grow their following. For The Chainsmokers, it is much more about giving more opportunity for the female voice to be heard and appreciated while upholding their own creative integrity at the same time. By collaborating with various female vocalists in the manner in which they do, a system of allowing both themselves and the singers to have ultimate expression has been formed.

Pall and Taggart even lovingly speak of their long time girlfriends, which they have upheld relationships with since before reaching a state of fame and fortune. They state that finding compatible relationship partners today can be hard enough without the endless touring and pitfalls of being in the spotlight. It is refreshing to see and hear them spoken about in numerous interviews, each time given credit for their support in which they provide to this musical powerhouse.

The Chainsmokers Won’t Forget Avicii the Great EDM Musician

When Avicii passed away on April 18, 2018 the EDM world was shaken to its core. This young man was one fo the premiere music stars in this sphere of music. His sound was international and millions of people all over the world rocked to music. The Chainsmokers honored Avicii at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. They payed homage to this former music legend when they were presenting an award to Luis Fonsi for his hit song Despacito.

The Chainsmokers really admired Avicii. They knew what he meant to them as up and coming artists. In an interview, Alex Pall even mentions that Avicii was an individual that he and his musical partner, Andrew Taggart, looked up to. The duo did not completely steal Avicii’s sound, but they were molded by the music that he created.

Avicii’s primary influence was in European markets. He played at many of the big EDM concerts all over the world. He even made inroads into the U.S. but his presence here was more indirectly felt. Other groups who were influenced by Avicii took the spotlight here in the U.S. So, he did not shine as much as a major EDM star. Even though this is the case, other artists such as the Chainsmokers helped to extend what Avicii had been doing for years.

The Chainsmokers made hit EDM music such as Something Just Like This (with Coldplay), Selfie and Roses. They have been around since 2012. Millions of people all over the nation have jammed to their music at one point in time or another. The Chainsmokers will not forget Avicii and what he had done for them.

The award was given to Fonsi and everyone truly mourned this fallen artist. His legacy will not be forgotten. Artists such as the Chainsmokers will help Avicii’s memory to stay relevant. This is just one of many EDM groups that appreciate Avicii for all that he has done for their genre of music.
